Reunion in Memphis

I had a fun opportunity to travel with Josh to Memphis this past weekend as he participated in a showcase soccer tournament. Usually because of work schedules, Scott is the lucky one who gets to go with the boys to these tournaments, but because my semester is over—I got to go! It was great to be with Josh and to watch him play. He is a good soccer player--I wish I could say it was genetic... but it’s not. He played in the U-19 division—most of the boys he played with were much older, bigger, and had much hair-ier legs!

The highlight of the weekend was Josh’s reunion with one of his best childhood friends, Emilio who is from Mexico. It has been almost seven years since we left Chile, but they have remained in touch over these years. Emilio now lives in the Memphis area with his wonderful family and was playing at the same soccer tourney! Imagine the odds! The reunion was fun for our families—and a little emotional to see these “babies all ‘grown’ up”!

I have decided that is just one of the many “perks” to living in so many different places—it’s the great people you meet, the memories you make with them, and the special place they will always hold in your heart--no matter where the wind takes you!
